What Caused the First World War?

The First World War happened because of several reasons:

1. Nationalism: People were passionately proud of their countries , but some groups demanded separation and independence, which led to conflicts and violence.

2. Imperialism: Countries like Britain, France, and Germany wanted to control more land and colonies around the world, leading to arguments and rivalries.

3. Militarism: Countries built big armies and weapons and were ready to fight at any moment, which made war more likely

4. Alliances: Countries made secret promises to help each other. So, when one country was attacked, others jumped in, making the war bigger.

What Happened After the War?

The war caused huge damage:

1. Lost Lives: Millions of soldiers and civilians died, and many places were destroyed

2. Fall of Empires: The war ended four big empires: Austria-Hungary, the Ottoman Empire, Russia, and Germany. New countries were created.

3. The Treaty of Versailles: In 1919, the peace agreement blamed Germany for the war and made it pay a lot of money, which made Germans very angry.

4. Economic Problems: Many countries were in debt, and their economies were ruined.

5. Social Changes: Women started working in jobs that men used to do, which led to new rights for women

6. The League of Nations: After the war, an organization was made to try to stop future wars, but it didn’t work well
